I am about to get a horse and i am wanting to ride.Around how much do you think lessons are?

It depends on the stable, but I’ve had lessons between $20-25 for about an hour and a half of riding. If you have your own horse, maybe they’ll give you a discount!

I live in Aberdeen, Maryland. I'm 14(if that matters). I would like to start riding/taking lessons. I would be using a horse owned by the stables. And taking a one hour(around there) lesson per week.

somerimes you will be charged more for using one of their horses, but sometimes it is included. if there is goin to be a charge it will generally be around $15. and if you are taking a group lesson you can probably find somewhere as inexpensive as $35/hour. A private lesson will be more along the lines of $50+. When first starting out i would actually reccomend a group lesson because you get to watch other people ride and see what mistakes they are making to learn from as well as give you a resting period if you get tired. You can also meet new people!

On my first lesson, I started trotting, and I just about mastered it. My friend though, (who takes lessons at the same place and owns her own horse) says that she didn't start cantering for about 5 or 6 months!
To all those who take horseback riding lessons, when did you start cantering, jumping or any of that fun stuff?
I'm 13 if that matters…

It will vary greatly by the person and the horse. I've had some people up to a full run on the first day and others never made it to a trot.

Go forward at a pace you are comfortable with.
